Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zachery Mckinnon and James Thomas Lead Taylor to Victory

Taylor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They managed a 64-59 win over the Crescent City Raiders. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 67-43 victory the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Taylor was led to victory by James Thomas and Zachery McKinnon. Thomas dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards, while McKinnon went 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points. The game was Thomas' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Harcus, who posted 13 points.

Taylor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 17 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Taylor's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Crescent City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taylor and Burns Sci-Tech will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Crescent City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Interlachen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
