Soccer Recap: McClatchy Comes Up Short

McClatchy was the 8-0 winner over Cordova when they last played one another on January 7th, but their luck changed this time around. The McClatchy Lions fell just short of the Cordova Lancers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Lancers are ranked 855th).

McClatchy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-2 and their overall record down to 8-4-4. As for Cordova, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11-1.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the McClatchy duke it out with the West Park at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cordova, they will head out to take on Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Kennedy's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Cordova has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
