Baseball Recap: Wagener-Salley Comes Up Short

Wagener-Salley had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Lamar Silver Foxes. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the War Eagles were not able to get on the board.

As for Lamar, they now have a winning record of 11-10. Considering they have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Lamar's part, the result came thanks to Jayzon Parnell's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Parnell also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Silver Foxes are 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Lamar got a massive performance out of Cody Barr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Barr is becoming a predictor of the Silver Foxes' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Zoom Jackson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

As of now, neither Wagener-Salley nor Lamar have any future games scheduled.
