Volleyball Game Preview: Proviso West Panthers vs. Wheeling Wildcats

The Proviso West Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the Wheeling Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Proviso West is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Proviso West didn't have quite enough to beat Leyden and fell 2-1.

Proviso West started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wheeling, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Elk Grove by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Grenadiers: they've now won three in a row.

While Wheeling won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 27-25.

Proviso West's defeat dropped their record down to 10-18. As for Wheeling, their victory bumped their record up to 19-12.

Proviso West came up short against Wheeling in their previous meeting on Saturday, falling 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
