Preview: New Life Christian Academy Monarchs vs. Winston-Salem Christian Lions
The New Life Christian Academy Monarchs will head out on the road to face off against the Winston-Salem Christian Lions on Friday. Hopefully New Life Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
New Life Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They enjoyed a cozy 77-61 victory over Varsity Opponent. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
New Life Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleb James out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The match was James' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaheim Faison, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Winston-Salem Christian pushed their score all the way to 82 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 91-82 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlisle. While losing is never fun, Winston-Salem Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 233rd in North Carolina, while Carlisle is ranked 84th in Virginia).
The win makes it two in a row for New Life Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for Winston-Salem Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
New Life Christian Academy came up short against Winston-Salem Christian in their previous meeting back in February, falling 71-59. Can New Life Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
