Baseball Game Preview: La Mirada Matadores vs. Bellflower Buccaneers

La Mirada is a perfect 10-0 against Bellflower since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Matadores will head out to face off against the Buccaneers at 3:15 p.m. La Mirada is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

La Mirada was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against West Ranch on Saturday. The Matadores blew past the Wildcats 12-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Matadores needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Donald Murray looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kevin Jeon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last six games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maverek Russell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

La Mirada hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Bellflower's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Royal by a score of 2-0. Considering the last time the Buccaneers couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Bellflower's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for La Mirada, their record now sits at 18-6.

La Mirada was able to grind out a solid win over Bellflower in their previous matchup back in March, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadores since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
