Baseball Recap: Pearl River Central Blue Devils vs. George County Rebels

Pearl River Central and George County squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Pearl River Central had to settle for second. They fell just short of the George County Rebels by a score of 4-3. Pearl River Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as George County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Friday.

Blake Gill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.

On George County's side, they got a great performance from Preston McAdory as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). McAdory has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts every time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ben Davis was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Pearl River Central's loss dropped their record down to 28-7. As for George County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season.

While Pearl River Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
