Basketball Game Preview: Katahdin Cougars vs. Easton Bears

The Katahdin Cougars will challenge the Easton Bears at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Katahdin sitting on five straight victories and Easton on four.

Katahdin is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Southern Aroostook: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Katahdin blew Southern Aroostook out of the water with a 78-33 final score. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Easton walked away with it. They walked away with a 49-42 win over the Minutemen on Wednesday.

Katahdin pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.6 points over those games. As for Easton, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Katahdin didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Easton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-51 victory.
