Baseball Recap: Lakeland Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

While Lakeland put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hernando. The Lakeland Dreadnaughts blew past the Hernando Leopards 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Dreadnaughts, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

LOGAN MCMICKLE tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, CAMERON FUSE was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of ELI MILLER, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lakeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lakeland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. Hernando's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.

Coming up, Lakeland will take on Fort Meade in a tournament on Monday. Fort Meade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Hernando, they will be playing at home against Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
