Softball Game Preview: Hallettsville Brahmas vs. Columbus Cardinals

Hallettsville has won 17 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Columbus has won 17 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Brahmas will welcome the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Hallettsville made easy work of Edna and carried off an 18-1 win.

Caitlynn Halata was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Hanna Zachary was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.

Hallettsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Columbus got themselves on the board against Palacios on Tuesday, but Palacios never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Sharks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Hallettsville is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus, their win bumped their record up to 16-5-1.

Hallettsville beat Columbus 3-0 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Brahmas repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
