Foothill waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Esperanza Aztecs 11-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-0 back in March.
Bianca Casella was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Casella was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other pitching news, Capri Gallego looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Brooklyn Austin was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Victer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Foothill's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Esperanza, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Foothill and Esperanza should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Knights (ranked 258th) will meet Beckman (ranked 659th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Esperanza will challenge Troy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (391 vs. 840).
