Basketball Recap: Carter's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Carter's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past the Jellico Blue Devils with points to spare, taking the game 56-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Green Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Carter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marah Yeo led the charge by putting up 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Yeo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Lexi Tipton was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards.

Carter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Carter moved to 2-9 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Jellico, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Carter and Jellico could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Carter (ranked 293rd) will meet Powell (ranked 122nd) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Jellico (ranked 325th) will meet Rhea County (ranked 68th) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
