Baseball Recap: Adrian Drops Season-High Score on Ypsilanti

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Adrian). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Ypsilanti Grizzlies an 18-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Maples have won four contests by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Gary Kemerer looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Bruggeman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Adrian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Robichaud, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Adrian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive games.

Adrian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ypsilanti, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Adrian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Grizzlies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
