With a playoff win on the line, Breese Central rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 36-12 margin over the Cahokia Comanches. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Cole Davis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and three scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 52 receiving yards and one TD. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 53 yards. Breese Central also got a significant boost from Owen Kehrer, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Breese Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Breese Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Davis and Aidan Huegen. Another thorn in Cahokia's side was Jackson Kampwerth, who picked up 0.5 sacks and made 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Cahokia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances.
