Brush had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Fort Morgan Mustangs by a score of 28-20 on Friday. For the Beetdiggers, this counts as revenge for the 21-6 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Ritchie Bruno had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 161 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brush was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Morgan only rushed for 104 rushing yards.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Morgan lost, don't look at Jj Marquez. Despite the final result, he threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards on only seven carries.

Fort Morgan is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Brush has already played their next match, a 29-22 victory against University on the 5th. As for Fort Morgan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 26-25 loss against Lutheran on the 4th.
