Volleyball Recap: Pinon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rough Rock last Thursday, Pinon came back down to earth. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Valley Pirates on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Pinon took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-20, 27-25.

Kaelana Nelwood paced Pinon's offense, picking up five kills. Nelwood got some help from Alyssa Foster and her six assists. Foster was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Pinon's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Pinon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Northland Prep Academy on the 1st.
