Preview: Windham Whippets vs. Griswold Wolverines
The Windham Whippets will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Griswold Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Windham pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Fitch at home and fell 91-58. Windham has struggled against Fitch recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Windham had strong showings from Anthony Green, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, and Malcolm Hunter , who scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Hunter scored a full 29.3% of Windham's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Griswold pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-62 to Plainfield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (55), Griswold still had to take the loss.
Windham now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Griswold, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Windham strolled past Griswold in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 77-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Windham since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
