Baseball Recap: Tintic Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Tintic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Wendover Wildcats with a sharp 17-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Miners have won by exactly 15 runs.

Kaylon Steele and Kelan Bigler made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Steele tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bigler struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Tintic is 2-1 when Bigler allows three or fewer hits, but 1-3 otherwise. At the plate, Steele went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Bigler got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Emmitt Despain and Camden Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Despain went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Johnson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Despain a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylon Jones, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Tintic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tintic's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Wendover, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Tintic will face off against Bryce Valley at 6:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Wendover, they will head out on the road to take on Intermountain Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
