Basketball Recap: Trinity Owens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mountain View Prep over R-S Central

Mountain View Prep saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 38-30 to the R-S Central Hilltoppers.

Mountain View Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trinity Owens, who posted four points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Caldwell, who put up seven points along with nine steals and five boards.

Even though they lost, Mountain View Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Lai Flack, who had 21 points for R-S Central. That makes it five consecutive games in which Flack has scored at least a third of R-S Central's points. Niah Fritts was another key player, putting up seven points.

Mountain View Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for R-S Central, they moved to 1-7 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Father Ryan the next time they take the court. Mountain View Prep will head out to face Father Ryan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while R-S Central will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
