Basketball Recap: Markeita Shaw's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Terrell over Crandall

If Terrell was riding high fresh off their 77-41 takedown of Corsicana last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Terrell Tigers fell 55-42 to the Crandall Pirates on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-41 back in December of 2024.

Terrell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markeita Shaw, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Christyana Jacobs, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Terrell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Terrell's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Crandall, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Terrell Tigers duke it out with the Ennis Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Terrell is facing Ennis at the right time seeing as Ennis is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Crandall, they will take on Midlothian Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Crandall is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
