Softball Recap: Madison Southern's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Madison Southern dropped their record down to 11-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 11-7 to the West Jessamine Colts. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Ashlyn Estep made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Katarina Ebert was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

As for West Jessamine, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On West Jessamine's side, Emerson Collins and Paige Hobgood did most of the damage at the plate: Collins went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Hobgood went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles Hobgood has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Vahle, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Coming up, Madison Southern will face off against Rockcastle County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Jessamine, they will square off against Somerset at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Colts are facing the Briar Jumpers at the right time seeing as the Briar Jumpers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
