Baseball Recap: Cherry Hill East Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Cherry Hill East won against Williamstown last Saturday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Paul VI Eagles a 6-0 shutout. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 7-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Paul VI's batters probably weren't too happy with Austin Hanni, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up two walks). Hanni has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Connors, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Rohan Muttathil, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Cherry Hill East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cherry Hill East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Paul VI, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherry Hill East will venture away from home to take on Eastern at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paul VI, they will face off against Camden Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
