Football Recap: Owen Larsen and Reece Heineman Lead the Defense for Pender Win

Pender extended their home winning streak to four games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Zander Welsh. The Pendragons took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over the Homer Knights with plenty of help from Welsh, who threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 89 yards and one TD. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Pender didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Owen Larsen and Reece Heineman. Larsen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Homer took the loss, they still got scores from Austin Pelster and Axton Caskey.

Pender's record now sits at 4-1. As for Homer, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Pender didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-28 win against Guardian Angels Central Catholic on the 3rd. As for Homer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 56-12 loss against Wisner-Pilger on the 3rd.
