Football Recap: Pender Skates Past Homer with Ease

Pender entered their tilt with Homer on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Knights 49-14. With the Pendragons ahead 27-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Zander Welsh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 133 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 89 yards and one score. Those 89 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Pender's leading receiver Reece Heineman was Welsh's top target yet again, picking up 60 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Pender proved: they limited Homer to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Lane Kelly for the heroic effort on defense: he. Pender didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.

Pender didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Owen Larsen and Heineman. Larsen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Homer took the loss, they still got scores from Austin Pelster and Axton Caskey.

Pender's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Homer, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.
