Basketball Recap: Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles vs. Gospel Light Christian

The Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.7 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They strolled past Gospel Light Christian with points to spare, taking the game 48-29. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Westwood Baptist Academy did.

It was another big night for James Hawley, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Jones, who scored 15 points along with four blocks.

Gospel Light Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Drake Walker, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Samuel Sisk, who scored ten points along with five assists.

Westwood Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Gospel Light Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.

Westwood Baptist Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Knights at 9:00 p.m. on February 2nd. One thing working in Shining Light Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups. As for Gospel Light Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Knights at 12:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Greenville Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
