Softball Recap: Parkview Takes a Loss

Parkview extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the Williams Bay Bulldogs, falling 14-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-2 defeat last Monday.

As for Williams Bay, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-14. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For Williams Bay's part, Sarena Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts Brown has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Williams Bay got a massive performance out of Rori Hayes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kalie Stanek was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkview will square off against Evansville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Williams Bay, they will take on Living Word Lutheran at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Timberwolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.06 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
