Basketball Recap: South Fork Takes a Loss

South Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Morningside Academy Eagles and fell 46-15. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why South Fork lost, don't look at Isabella Shearn. Despite the final result, she posted four points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Morningside Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Arianah Wallace led the charge by putting up 13 points along with six boards and six steals. Wallace has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Sam Flannigan was another key player, earning 13 points and eight rebounds.

South Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Morningside Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Fork will square off against Okeechobee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Morningside Academy has already played their next game (against Calvary Chapel Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
