Basketball Game Preview: Johnson County Trojans vs. Hancock Central Bulldogs

The Johnson County Trojans will face off against the Hancock Central Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Johnson County against Georgia Military College as the squad secured a 48-17 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ziyah Lewis, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was S'Riyah Bostick, who had 11 points.

Meanwhile, Hancock Central waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since January 30, 2024.

Hancock Central's win came from a few key players Johnson County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaliyah Hargrove, who put up ten points. Sonovia Reynolds was another key player, putting up eight points.

Johnson County pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Hancock Central, their record now sits at 11-6.

Johnson County came up short against Hancock Central in their previous matchup on January 14th, falling 51-47. Can Johnson County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
