Baseball Recap: Tug Valley Takes a Loss

Tug Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 5-1 to the Sherman Tide. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tide this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in April.

Gavin Fitzpatrick was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Tug Valley is 4-1 when Fitzpatrick posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-12 otherwise.

Tug Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Sherman, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tug Valley will challenge WestSide at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Renegades have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.74 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sherman, they will take on Lincoln County at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
