Southern came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Wirt County Tigers 57-40. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 476th in Ohio, while the Tigers are ranked 100th in West Virginia).

Wirt County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyler Smith, who posted eight points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylan Dawson, who had ten points.

Southern pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Wirt County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8.

Southern won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wahama at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wirt County, they will head out on the road to face off against Gilmer County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
