Football Recap: Foundation Christian Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Shorecrest Prep

Foundation Christian Academy faced Shorecrest Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Panthers took a 22-8 bruising from the Chargers. The Panthers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Even if they lost, Foundation Christian Academy's defense still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Finn Joyce, Jeremiah Segodo, and EJ Doughlin, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Shorecrest Prep found their leader in sophomore Ke'Mon Dent, who rushed for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Dent showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards.

Foundation Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Shorecrest Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Foundation Christian Academy will be playing at home against The Classical Academy of Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.56 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Shorecrest Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
