Volleyball Recap: Del Sol Takes a Loss

Del Sol was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat. They came up short against the Santa Paula Cardinals, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Del Sol was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-22, 25-13.

Leading Santa Paula to victory were Kathy Valdez and Milanna Manzano. Valdez had 25 digs and four aces, while Manzano had 13 assists. Those 25 digs gave Valdez a new career-high.

Del Sol's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Santa Paula, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-10.

Coming up, Del Sol will head out on the road to challenge Bishop Diego at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Paula, they will be playing at home against Hueneme at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
