Volleyball Recap: Steele Has No Trouble Against Scott

Steele won the last time they faced Scott and things went their way on Monday too. Steele was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Scott. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Comets this season.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-11, 25-19.

Steele's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joe Penano led the charge by getting ten assists and five aces. Those five aces gave Penano a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Penano, who had nine digs and three aces.

Joe wasn't the only good server: Steele was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Steele and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Scott, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Steele will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Perrysburg at 6:00 p.m. on April 3. As for Scott, they will challenge Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
