Recap: Palmetto Ridge Bears vs. Southeast Seminoles
Even though the Southeast Seminoles scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the Palmetto Ridge Bears still came out on top. Palmetto Ridge took their matchup against Southeast 68-61. Given Palmetto Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Southeast is ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calven Charles was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Palmetto Ridge's points. Sean Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists.
Palmetto Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Southeast, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.
Palmetto Ridge will be playing at home against East Lee County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southeast, they will head out on the road to square off against Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
