Baseball Preview: McDaniel Mountain Lions vs. McNary Celtics
The McDaniel Mountain Lions will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the McNary Celtics at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, McDaniel got the win against Parkrose by a conclusive 10-3.
Paul Oellrich was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Davis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, McNary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Salem. That's two games in a row now that McNary has lost by exactly three runs.
Ben Allen and Trevor Ratliff stepped up to the plate in a big way. Allen went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, while Ratliff went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Jake Allen, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
McDaniel's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for McNary, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
