Football Game Preview: Mead Mavericks vs. Holy Family Tigers

The Mead Mavericks will square off against the Holy Family Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mead is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Mead against Lewis-Palmer as the squad secured a 50-9 victory. Fans of the Mavericks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Ethan Elmore produced another solid performance throwing for 221 yards and two TDs while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushing for 80 yards on only six carries. Those 221 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Noah Chapala was another key player, rushing for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mead was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Holy Family came up short against Pueblo East on Thursday, falling 35-14. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

Mead's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Holy Family, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Mead was able to grind out a solid victory over Holy Family in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 22-15. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
