Recap: Lower Richland Diamond Hornets vs. Dreher Blue Devils

The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets were the 28-20 winner over the Dreher Blue Devils when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lower Richland and Dreher were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Lower Richland suffered an agonizing 21-20 loss. That's two games in a row now that Lower Richland has lost by exactly a single point.

When it comes to explaining why Lower Richland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lamarion Pearson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Pearson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.

Lower Richland's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Gilbert and 8-2 Ridge View (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.2% over those games). As for Dreher, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.

Lower Richland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dreher will head out on the road to face off against Camden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Camden presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dreher in South Carolina (Camden is ranked 35th, while Dreher is ranked 113th).
