Baseball Recap: Capital Takes a Loss

Capital fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Mountain View on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 8-6. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 9-4.

Maddox Weight put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Weight wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caden Werner, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Capital has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Mountain View, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Capital didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 loss against Owyhee on the 22nd. As for Mountain View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against Centennial on the 22nd.
