After a string of three wins, Carlmont's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Menlo-Atherton Bears by a score of 62-60. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Bears are ranked 80th).

Carlmont's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-8. As for Menlo-Atherton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Carlmont and Mountain View will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Menlo-Atherton, they and Palo Alto will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Palo Alto will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Menlo-Atherton surely won't give up without a fight.
