Recap: Conway Springs Cardinals vs. Medicine Lodge Indians
The Conway Springs Cardinals extended their postseason success on Friday against the Medicine Lodge Indians. They enjoyed a cozy 34-19 win over the Indians. The win was familiar territory for Conway Springs who now have ten in a row.
Brayden Kunz was his usual excellent self, rushing for 279 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Kunz is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Isaac Winter was another key contributor, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Medicine Lodge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keveon Ruiz, who threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrek Randels, who picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Conway Springs' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.4 points per game. As for Medicine Lodge, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Conway Springs will square off against Jefferson County North at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Jefferson County North: 9.7, Conway Springs: 18.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Medicine Lodge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
