Softball Recap: Maryville Has No Trouble Against West

Maryville won against William Blount last Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Red Rebels blew past the West Rebels 8-2. Considering the Red Rebels have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sadie Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maryville got a massive performance out of Ava Maples, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Maples a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Saunders, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Maryville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.

As of now, neither Maryville nor the Rebels have any future games scheduled.
