Basketball Game Preview: Mapleton Sailors vs. Alsea Wolverines

The Mapleton Sailors will face off against the Alsea Wolverines at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Mapleton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Triangle Lake just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakers. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Alsea and Mohawk, and Alsea kept the tradition alive. The Wolverines enjoyed a cozy 54-35 victory over the Mustangs on Tuesday.

Alsea is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points over those games. As for Mapleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Mapleton couldn't quite get it done against Alsea in their previous matchup back in January as they fell 47-35. Can the Sailors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
