Soccer Game Preview: Marshall vs. Mt. Pleasant

Marshall hasn't had much luck against Mt. Pleasant recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Marshall Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Marshall has given up an average of 4.4 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Marshall is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Friday. They lost 5-1 to Texas.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant's defense stepped up to hand Texas a 3-0 shutout. The score was close at the half, but Mt. Pleasant pulled away in the second half with two goals.

Mt. Pleasant's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those four matchups. As for Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Marshall might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Mt. Pleasant in their previous matchup back in January. Can Marshall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
