Baseball Recap: Carlinville Takes a Loss

Carlinville lost against Southwestern back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Piasa Birds by a score of 5-4. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Noah Byots made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Carlinville's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Southwestern, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-18.

Coming up, Carlinville will host Staunton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Southwestern, they are taking a road trip to take on Carrollton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Piasa Birds are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
