Softball Recap: Hackleburg Extends Home Winning Streak to 19

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hackleburg had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Lynn Bears 14-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Laine Steward made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Butler was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Saylor Cooper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Hackleburg's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 32-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Lynn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13-2 record this season.

Lynn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-4 win against Vina on the 28th. Hopefully Hackleburg paid attention to the Bears' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bears on Tuesday.
