Soccer Game Preview: Esperanza vs. Crean Lutheran

The Esperanza Aztecs will face off against the Crean Lutheran Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Things were looking good for Esperanza after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Villa Park. While losing is never fun, the Aztecs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 389th, while the Spartans are ranked 137th).

Esperanza's goal came courtesy of Travis Rivera, who's now up to seven this season.

Meanwhile, Crean Lutheran came up short against Yorba Linda back in December of 2024 and fell 3-1. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Esperanza's loss dropped their record down to 5-5-3. As for Crean Lutheran, they now have a losing record at 3-4-1.
