Basketball Recap: Haxtun's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Haxtun ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Limon Badgers, sneaking past 41-39. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Fightin' Bulldogs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Haxtun's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobbi Starkebaum, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 16 rebounds. That's the most boards Starkebaum has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Anderson, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Limon still got an impressive performance from Gianna Humphrey, who earned 16 points along with eight boards and four steals. Humphrey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samara Humphrey, who scored seven points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Haxtun's record is now 9-13. As for Limon, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Haxtun wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-31 loss against Akron on the 1st. As for Limon, they have also already played their next game, a 49-39 defeat against Holyoke on the 1st.
