Basketball Recap: Franklin Road Christian Skates Past Desoto County Academy with Ease

On Saturday, everything came up roses for the Franklin Road Christian Minutemen against the Desoto County Academy Ambassadors as the squad secured a 56-17 win. The Minutemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 39 points or more this season.

Franklin Road Christian found their leader in freshman Lakelyn Dempsey, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Dempsey is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anora Golden, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and five steals.

Franklin Road Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 41 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Franklin Road Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Franklin Road Christian will welcome Zion Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desoto County Academy will take on Leake Academy in a holiday battle at at 2:30 p.m. on December 21st.
