Baseball Recap: Central Noble Takes a Loss

Central Noble extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Woodlan Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since April 21st.

Caden Douglas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Woodlan, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

On Woodlan's side, Ethan Trygg and Ben Delagrange dominated on the mound. Trygg tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Delagrange tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Delagrange posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Drew Fleek was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Coming up, Central Noble will host Lakewood Park Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Woodlan, they are taking a road trip to face off against Fremont at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
