Preview: North Blue Devils vs. Carmen Northwest
The North Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge Carmen Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
After a string of six wins, North's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Milwaukee Hamilton by a score of 74-71. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat North has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cayden Gibson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dmonte Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Carmen Northwest had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They snuck past Milwaukee Riverside with a 85-79 win. Given Carmen Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Milwaukee Riverside is ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Carmen Northwest, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
North ended up a good deal behind Carmen Northwest in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 73-59. Can North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
